On the evening of October 16, 1859 John Brown a abolitionist and a group of his supporters left their farm house hid out to Harpers Ferry. When Brown and his men got to the town they captured men of the army and taking there weapons. Brown hoped that they would be able to gain access to weapons that the slaves could use to take over. However, in attempt to gain the weapons Brown was caught and put on trial and was hung on December 2, 1859. In the movie The Blue and The Gray it showed Browns trial and him getting hanged.
